We are Churches of Christ. Our identity and purpose as an organisation is founded on the person and work of Jesus Christ. Churches of Christ is a church and community organisation that includes a group of affiliated, mainstream Christian churches and a range of care and community services and faith-related groups.
Churches of Christ is part of the ‘restoration movement’ which began around 1800 in the USA. Believers from various denominations began to come together with the goal of attempting to reproduce the essence of the church as presented in the New Testament.
While Churches of Christ does not have a set creed or written statement of faith, several principles have been foundational to the movement since the beginnings.
Our mission of ‘bringing the light of Christ into communities’ is founded on the teachings and values of Jesus Christ who calls on every one of us to be a light in the place we are in, through the expression of love.
Our core values are ‘Unconditional love’, 'Continual innovation', ‘Mutual trust’ and ‘Wise stewardship’.
Our commitment to reconciliation has not faded and our determination remains strong. We have the foundations we need to stay focused over the next two years as we walk towards reconciliation along with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders, communities, colleagues and friends.
